How do I apply for service?
- You can apply for service online at hwws.com or in person at 121 E Harrison Ave.
What is required for connection.
- The first page of the application lists all documents required for connection.
Is there a deposit required to open service?
- Yes, deposits start at $150.00 for residential and $200.00 for commercial accounts.
Is the deposit refundable?
- The deposit will stay on the account until the account is closed. The deposit will apply to the final bill and be used to satisfy any final balances on the account.
Where can I get a trash can and when are my pickup dates?
- For all garbage related questions contact Public Works at 956-216-5301.
Is garbage included in my bill?
- Yes, in most cases garbage is included in your bill. If you live outside city limits and the City of Harlingen does not provide services, contact Republic Services at 956-423-7316.
Is there a fee for bank draft?
- There is no fee if you sign up for bank draft with HWWS by filling out our bank draft authorization form and using a checking or savings account. There will be a fee of $1.25 or 2.25% whichever is greater if you sign up on our website.
Can I fax my application?
- Yes, you can fax your documents, and the fax number is 956-430-6106.
What are the hours of operation?
- Hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 7:30 am – 5:00 pm for our lobby hours and 7:30 am-5:30 pm for our drive through.
Can I pay with an electronic check online?
- Yes, you can pay online with an e-check by registering your account first.
What do the codes on my bill stand for?

Why do I have a late fee if I never received a bill?
- A late fee will apply if payment is not received by the due date before the close of business hours. Failure to receive your bill does not waive customer’s responsibility for timely payment.
Will I be reconnected the same day if service is terminated for nonpayment?
- Services terminated for any reason may not be re-instated until the following business day.
